Steven Teal is the Founder and Principal Consultant of BIA4HR. Steven has a professional and academic background that offers him a unique perspective on the application of business intelligence and analytics within Human Resources and how these capabilities can create business value.
This background includes:
Solid academic underpinnings with a B.A. from the University of South Florida with an emphasis on Economic Modeling, an M.S. from Dartmouth College with a focus on Machine Learning, and PhD work at Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction and a subspecialty in Experimental Design;
Increasing and pragmatic hands-on career development as a U.S. Air Force officer specializing in data analysis (now retired), and career broadening serving as a university faculty member, in a quasi-governmental Agency, and in several senior-level positions in Fortune 100 corporations such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Marriott International, Honeywell International, and Phillips 66;
Cutting-edge HR expertise by serving in positions of increasing responsibility including Director, Learning Design and Analytics; Vice President, Leadership and Executive Development; Chief Learning Officer; Global Head of Talent Management; and, Global Head of Talent Operations and Analytics;
Initiation and implementation of innovative People Analytics functions within a broad range of companies and cultures both internally as well as through consulting efforts with colleagues; and,
Being fortunate to have worked for companies and cultures that viewed their primary focus as service whether that was through pharmaceutical development, hospitality, product engineering and innovation, or transportation.
In his spare time, Steven is a lifelong athlete participating in marathon- and ultra-distance running and cycling events.
